Rules: One to Rule Them All
« on: May 02, 2018, 12:56:37 AM »
This challenge was inspired heavily by this forum's Rival Dynasty Challenge. So special thanks to the Challenge Team!

Created to be used before the start of a Royal Kingdom Challenge.

One to Rule Them All

Premise: The elderly monarch has ruled this kingdom for many years.  But there are rumors that their health is failing.  However, the monarch is without a legitimate heir.  The closest relatives all have equal claim to the throne.  Rather than see their kingdom torn apart in a civil war, the monarch has met with these relatives and has issued a proclamation: if they meet certain requirements, they will ascend to the throne.

This is a rotational play involving 2 or more families.  The set up and rules are as follows:

Initial Set-up

Settings
Long life span (if using MCCC, can alter span as needed; if not, can use Potion of Youth, ambrosia, book of life, etc to extend life of monarch as needed)
Full autonomy
Age up unplayed Sims
Age up active household only
(There is some lee-way here.  Set things up how you wish in order to keep gameplay fun and engaging.)

Set-up
If using MCCC, story progression is taken care of, but make sure that all rival families are left alone (that the player is the only one changing or doing anything with the rival families)
If not using MCCC, will have to keep worlds alive yourself using cas.fulleditmode cheat (go in, give spouses, create children, etc.  Cannot play families other than those that are the rivals at this point)
Create your Monarch: either male or female Elder.  Move them into your “castle” (build or download one from the gallery and place on any of the big lots.  This world will serve as the current Kingdom.  So if you place your castle on the 50x50 lot in Willow Creek (Oakenstead), then Willow Creek is the current Kingdom
Before fully starting play, you can set up all the other worlds as you see fit, evicting and/or deleting current families, creating your own families, changing outfits, etc.  You can also use this time to designate which of the remaining families in the other worlds are what class (Royal, Noble, Merchant, Peasant, etc)

Rival Families:
After your worlds are set up as you want them to be, it’s time to create the families vying to be the next Monarch
You have two options:
Create a single YA or adult sim.  They have no family support but are still considered noble class (or merchant, depending).  Could have a younger sibling or two as well to look after.  These count as members of the household for portrait purposes.
Teen or YA sim with living parents (either both or just one).  The teen or YA is the actual Founder and the one that is competing.  The parents contribute nothing to the goals, though they do count as members of the household for portrait purposes.

Pick one of Seven Options for them to try to complete:

1.  Despot
2.  Military
3.  Merchant
4.  Immortal
5.  Diplomatic
6.  Scholar
7.  Provider

Once an option has been chosen, they must complete their particular set of requirements before they can find a spouse and then attempt to bring in an heir.  Regardless of the chosen option, each rival must also:

A.  Become Good Friends with the Monarch
B.  Have a portrait of themselves and all of their household in the family home (this includes any non-family servants, etc).
C.  Complete their options’ requirements.
D.  Find and marry a spouse (must have a wedding party and achieve at least a silver)
E.  Secure an heir

The first one to complete all of those wins and becomes the new Monarch once the current one finally passes on.

Now, for the options:

Despot
Complete Public Enemy Aspiration (can target rival family members for the death requirement, though non-heirs only)
Must max Mischief skill
Must be enemies with other rivals
Must get to at least level 6 of either the criminal, athletic, or business careers

Military
Complete Bodybuilder Aspiration
Must max Fitness skill
Must mentor 10 hours
Must get to at least level 6 of either athletic, detective, or space ranger career

Merchant
Must complete both of the Fortune Aspirations (Fabulously Wealth and Mansion Baron)
Must max 3 skills
Must get all available perks for chosen venue (restaurant, retail, or vet clinic)
Venue must be worth at least $100,000

Immortal (vampire)*
Must complete one of the Vampire Aspirations
Must max Vampire Lore
Must be a Grand Master
Must sire 6 offspring (turned)
Must win 10 duels against other vampires
*Can do a full Immortal Challenge, using all Vampire rivals.  They are competing bloodlines, looking for a regime change (wanting to overthrow the current leader).  The first one to successfully complete their requirements, secure an heir, then do away with the current leader wins.

Diplomatic
Must complete two of the Popularity Aspirations
Must max Charisma and Comedy
Must have 12 Good Friends (aside from the Monarch)
Must get to at least level 6 of the business, political, or critic career

Scholar
Must complete two of the following: Nerd Brain, Bestselling Author, Renaissance Sim, or the Curator
Must max 4 skills
Must create a collection of written works (10 books)
Must get to at least level 6 of doctor, writing, scientist, or tech guru careers

Provider
Must complete two of the following: Angling Ace, Freelance Botanist, Outdoor Enthusiast
Must max two of the following: Gardening, Fishing, or Herbalism
Must complete one collection (fish, herbs, plants, etc)
Must get to at least level 6 of scientist, astronaut, or culinary career

There is a Spreadsheet, in fact the spreadsheet is based primarily on the one that @LenaLJ did for the Rival Dynasties, so thank you, Lena!

It's so wonderful reading all your rules for your "One to Rule Them All" challenge!
I have a better understanding now of what's going on in the background of your fabulous Royal Kingdom Challenge story.

I'll be re-reading your modified RKC rule set once you've completed "One to Rule Them All." :D
Thanks for sharing your original "One to Rule Them All" rules with us.
The story and your builds have been fascinating so far!

@oshizu

You are quite welcome!  Glad you are enjoying it all ^^  I've been having a lot of fun with it myself.  Haven't done a lot of rotational play in TS4, and this just seemed right up my alley lol, but before the RKC, I wanted to ease into things, do something smaller and that's how One to Rule Them All was born.
