The EcoDisk 51M-5 Thermostat

Is this thingamajig necessary? What is your experience with it and do you put it in your Sim homes?

It's winter in my game right now. It's freezing and snowing, but my Sims seem unaffected indoor. Of course, there is a fireplace in their livingroom downstairs which they have lit (by themselves). But does a fireplace warm up the entire house like the thermostat would? Can they replace one another during winter?

I have another related question. Are vampires immune to temperatures? Mine goes outside when it's freezing without changing clothes and doesn't appear to get cold, whereas their non-vampire spouse always changes into their warm clothes first.

I think the vampire thing is a bug. I see it with my vamps too.

As for the thermostat, if your sims house has a lit fireplace it seems to do the same thing. Houses without fireplaces eventually effect the sims there with them becoming cold so they do work. On entering a house with a thermostat on sims will react and get a short duration positive moodlet.
