Custom Showtime stages; weird issue
« on: February 17, 2018, 11:56:45 AM »
I am building custom venues in neighborhoods outside Starlight Shores. I don't know if I'm doing anything wrong when building, but the stage object in buydebug is staying it's checkered pattern rather than being covered in the desired floor tile.

For example, I have provided a photo of the stage found in one of the private venues (Brotherhood of Fine Fellows Hall, I believe) in Starlight Shores.

You can see that the stage blends in nicely with the surrounding floor tile.

Now here's what it looks like when I make my own custom stages venues:

The stage remains the checkered pattern and won't take the appearance of the floor tiles around it. It stays that way even in Live Mode and has happened in several neighborhoods. The issue in this photo is one of the lounges in Bridgeport, but it has also done this in every custom stage I made especially Central Park in Sunset Valley and Willowglen Amphitheatre in Twinbrook

It seems like others have been having issues with creating stages as well. You might try saving a copy of the stage from Starlight Shores and use it to build yours.

Other than that I'm out of ideas as to what to do to fix it. There's not much more info.

How do you save copies of the stages?

I know we're able to save copies of the venues. I have every Showtime venue saved to the Lot Bin. I just wish some of them weren't sized so oddly, because then they all could fit on lots in other worlds.

They are most likely talking about saving the community lots/venues themselves. In the post linked below is a how to save them to the library.

There isn't away to save odd-sized lots, that I know of. However, you might try a mod called -

Add Any Lot Size (edited 01/16/2014)
http://modthesims.info/d/471164

You can create custom sized lots for both community and residential lots.

Game updates do affect mods, however, Sims 3 most likely has seen it's last update with 1.69, when EA integrated it with Origin.

It's true some mods do have side effects that may corrupt games. But Add Any Size Lot doesn't. It's understandable not wanting to use mods if you're not familiar with them or just don't want to use them.

I have figured this out!!

For those of you having the same problem I had, I have found a solution while playing the other day.

The stage object is editable via Create-A-Style. Use that tool, click on the stage and you can redesign it like any other editable object. No more yellow checkered pattern!  :D
