'modify traits for active sim' button won't work

My sim just aged up into a child and when I picked a trait for him normally, it didn't show up. This normally happens when my sims age up and get new traits. I opened up the cheat box and typed testingcheatsenabled true . I shift-clicked and clicked on modify traits for active sim. I picked a trait and clicked the up arrow thing to make sure the sim actually got the trait. When I hit the checkmark, the trait still didn't show up. I tried it again and it still didn't work. Does anyone know how to fix this?

You might try resetting the Sim or evicting household. If that doesn't work, you could try going back to a previous save.
