Random Genetics Glitch or what?
« on: January 18, 2018, 06:53:21 AM »
So I created a new family in the game, the husband and wife have the same skin tone and similar genetics. When I went to randomize a child for them, it comes out in a completely different skin color! I tried randomizing again and again, even trying parents and siblings, and it all came out in the same, super dark skin color which neither of the parents are. Why is this?

EDIT* I'm not using any CC skins, only the hair and clothing are CC
EDIT** When I'm randomizing genetics with only either one of the parents, the kid's skin color is normal. It's only when I make them both the parents then the skin color goes really weird.

Are you using CC skins? That could easily give you these problems

Just want to point out that genetics in TS4 act a little weird sometimes. There seems to be some percentage of randomness at play in addition to the features that are passed down. I wouldn't think anything of it especially if you are using any kind of CC in CAS (Create-A-Sim). The effects of CC can be somewhat unpredictable. I once used a CC sweater which colored some of the sim's skin ???

Exactly @Nindigo  cc clothes can and does effect the randomization genetically in CAS and also in-game. Personally I'm willing to change my sims in CAS (testingcheats on: cas.editmode on)after the event rather than get rid of my cc male jeans!

I understand where you all are coming from, but the thing is, when there is only either one of them as the parent, the skin color is normal. Only when I pair them both up will the child become that skin tone.

It's impossible for us to tell what exactly happens with your CC. Try taking off all of the CC on both parents and try again? :)

I just had this happen, in game with a pregnancy.  Second child, first is one of parents tones, second baby is dark. I want to see it age up from baby. Not sure what do to about the changeling.

I use no CC. None.

Trust me, CC is not a requirement for something to go wrong in The Sims 4. If something is not working properly, simply come into the habit of considering it a feature - less pain that way 8)

Just to follow-up. The very dark baby, aged up to a toddler with a plausible skin tone for the parents.

So for me the glitch was just in baby stage. I did try playing with genetics in CAS and could not get it to show up there.
