Publicly Disgrace of Cheating
« on: April 13, 2011, 01:24:35 AM »
Once my sim go to the book store of Bridgeport and shop for books. I wonder why she don't have to pay and no message about free charge due to she is celebrity. However, she got publicly disgrace of cheating later (maybe this meant she cheated the book store for books).

I have tried to reload the game but the result still the same.
Now I realize playing the Sims 3 on Mac is playing the game of installation and uninstallation...

Publicly Disgraced cheating is actually romancing somebody while you're married.

It's not uncommon for Celebrities to be falsely accused of something.  You can also go to city hall to sue for slander...even when your sim has done what they were accused of.

In regards to lawsuits, I've noticed that the validity of the claim has little to nothing to do with whether or not they'll win.  It seems that the higher their celebrity status is and the more often they sue, the more likely they are to win lawsuits.

Maybe suing people is a hidden skill...  :P

Also, you can go to the business office and "Deflect Scandal" or "Pay off Paparazzi". Sims can "Dispel Rumors" on other Sims, but that takes a while.

I don't pay off the paparazzi...those worms!  I make them pay me off!  :P

Has anyone ever successfully deflected a scandal?  Any time I try they tell me something like "You expect me to believe that Christopher Steel did THAT??"

I have. My sim deflected onto his ex.  ;)
It said "Henry Peterson has successfully deflected the scandal onto Constance Shelley", then their relationship dropped. Didn't make a difference, they hated each other anyway.

Precisely what I was wondering about.  Thanks!

Yes, Late Night added the possibility for a Sim to become a celebrity. More on it here.

I hadn't gave it any thought until I started traveling with this sim but if you get publicly disgraced in one the the WA worlds there's nothing you can do but try and dispel rumors with other sims or ride it out for the 3 days.

Can you add a City Hall to the WA worlds so you would be able to sue?

Really you can go to City Hall and sue for slander ?!? Golly, my celebrity Sims have been falsely accused a lot, we thought it was just part of being famous. My celebrity Sims just disregard it and it goes away after awhile. Anyway, what benefits will the famous Sim get from suing? Will they get paid for damages? Will suing make them more famous , get more celebrity points? Thanks! :)

When you sue the moodlet goes away right then instead of waiting 3 days and after the lawyer fees I've got anywhere from $2,000 to $6,000 from it.
I guess there is a chance to lose the case. I never have lost yet so I don't know what would happen then.

There is. You pay the money, and if the suing is successful, you gain more money (less the fee to start suing). If it fails, you pay the money and that is it. I think you might get the moodlet increased back up to 3 days though. Should you fail, you can try again.

I bought the LTR “No Jealousy,” and since then, I haven’t been falsely accused. Also, before I did this, I was going around to my friends trying to “dispel rumors.” With my best friend, I could not get that action, no matter how long I talked to her. Is that a signal that she was the one who started the rumors?
