World Caches

Hi, I'm wondering if it is safe to remove the world cache files?

I've deleted them with no problem, but I was concerned when I did it too.

I wasn't for sure on this, so I did a quick search and found that it's safe to delete the world cache files, if you're using a windows. Crinrict mentions it's not safe for mac users to delete world cache files.
I wanted to note that just in case someone who uses a mac reads this thread.
