Does it matter what computer make?

I think this is the right place to ask, but I've been debating whether to get Sims 4, as the only computer I have access to at the minute is one from 2006, would this matter or not? Thanks

I would search for and run dxdiag to see what kind of specs it has, and whether it meets the minimum requirements. The minimum requirements are listed in a thread, currently stickied to the top of this page. Personally, my laptop meets all the requirements except for the graphics card memory. I can still run the game, but not as well as I'd like to.
