Video Card Cannot Run This Game

This seems like a common problem, specially with those that have dual graphics in their computer. If you get this error message: "Can't run The Sims 4 with the video card in this system." Please check that the video card meets minimum specs or better yet, the recommended specs and the latest drivers are installed. See our troubleshooting tips below:

1. Double check to make sure your computer meets or exceeds the recommended specs, which are:

Desktop Specs:

Processor: intel i5 / i7 quad core or AMD FX 8000 series / AMD ryzen 1400
Video Card: Nvidia GTX 1050, 1050 ti, or 1060 / AMD RX 480 or 580
Ram: 8 to 16 GB System Memory
Hard Drive Space: 500 GB or more
Windows 64 bit

Laptop Specs:

Processor : i5 or i7 HQ or MQ quad core
Video card : Nvidia GTX 960m or better (GTX 1050, 1050ti or 1060)
computer ram 8GB
hard drive space at least 500 GB
windows 64 bit

Look for an Intel i5 or i7 quad core processor which will end in HQ or MQ after the series number

For laptops - a cooling mat (even if the laptop will be used on a desk).

* These are our recommend specs. They will give better game performance and experience overall.

2. Check to make sure video card drivers are up to date.

3. If #2 doesn't help, you can try deleting the video card drivers, re-download them if needed and reinstall them.

4. Disabled Origin-in-game. - Origin Menu > Application Settings > Origin In-game tab, un-check or turn off Enable Origin In-Game.

5. Edit video card settings as explained in Crinricts post(s)

6. Repair game -  right-click on the game and select Repair Game.

7. Try running the game in Windowed mode - To do this just right-click on the game in Origin, click on Game Properties and type in the box -w.

8. *Optional* Restart the computer after you've done any of these steps. As it will refresh the computer.
