Imaginary Friend Stopped Coming to Life!
« on: November 29, 2017, 11:26:18 PM »
My Sims' son had his Imaginary Friend going smoothly, played with it as a toddler and had it grow up with him into an invisible person as a child. I sent him to boarding school, brought him home (didn't have him graduate, just pulled him out), moved the family into a new home, and now suddenly the Imaginary Friend only stays a doll! Even when I let it sit it outside the inventory, it just stays a doll, never becoming an invisible friend again. In his Relationships bar, there's still a picture of the IF in "real" form, with the friendship very high.

I heard that moving houses can cause the child/IF relationship to be erased. Is this true? :'( If so, how can I fix it? Without setting to a previous version I mean — he had a baby sister born while he was away at boarding school, and I don't want to erase her!

If you have a saved game before sending the sim to boarding school, try that. If not you could try resetting the Sim, or evicting the household and moving them back in as a form of resetting the family. There are more tips in the post linked below that may help.

I've never heard moving houses can cause the child/IF relationship to be erased. At least it's never happened in any of my games. If you are really concerned about that, maybe backup the family to the library, and the game for safe keeping, and then do a test with the family first.

Then if it (relationship gets erased) does happen, you have your saved game to go back to.
