Graphics Help - GTX1060 (Sims 4)
« on: November 23, 2016, 01:58:59 PM »
Hello,

Yesterday, I got a new PC, and I'm currently installing the Sims 4 expansions packs, stuff packs and game packs.

I tested it this morning but I had a message pop-up saying that it has not recognise my graphics card, which is a GTX 1060 6GB, and I just wanted to know if there is a way to recognise it?

When Sims 4 gives you the message that it doesn't recognize the graphics card, it may mean that you need to make sure that the computer is using the graphics card instead of the graphics chip. (If using a laptop) Read more details in the article linked below:

Graphics Card/Intel Chip Dual Systems
http://sims4.crinrict.com/en/2014/09/graphics-cardintel-chip-dual-systems/

If you can still play the game although the message appeared, the everything should be fine. - It's that the video card is brand new and the game database may not be updated to recognize the card yet.

*** Removed Graphics Files As EA has most likely updated the graphics card files to recognize this card.

So I just got a new computer, did what was in the tutorial, but there's no drop-down for "Step 2: Select High-Performance Nvidia Processor."

The article linked above is for players that have laptops.

For the most part the game should play fine. If you have a brand new video card chances are support will be added in a future update.

If you can still play the game although the message appeared, the everything should be fine.

Again, it's that the video card is new and the game database may not be updated to recognize the card.

Yeah, the game won't play. It looks awful as well. I got this new computer for TS4, so I guess I'm going to have to figure something out.

We would need to see your Config.log file that comes from
C:\Users\<Username>\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4

The information we need is:

=== Rating info ===
GPU:
GPU Memory:
CPU:
RAM:
CPU Speed:
Threading:
Adjusted CPU:
RAM:
Adjusted RAM:
Cores:

=== Graphics device info ===
Number:
Name (driver):
Name (database):
Vendor:
Chipset:
Vendor:
Chipset:
Driver:

With this information we can maybe determine a way to help.

My graphics card is a Nvidia GeForce 1060 (6GB) and I've been looking at the Sims 4 config notepad, and it say's

"Name (driver):   NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
Name (database):  [Found: 0, Supported: 1]"

Does anyone know if there is a way to make it find my graphics card?
