Does deleting screenshots hurt anything?

Hi everyone -

I have a ton of screenshots from old families that I don't play anymore. Does deleted the screenshots mess anything up? I figured there must be some type of index of them somewhere so I didn't want to delete and then get a ton of errors. Has anyone tried this?

I regularly clean out my screenshot folder and have never yet encountered a problem.  I find it easier in Explorer because you can only delete screenshots one at a time in game, just make sure the game isn't still running. 

I think I once deleted in explorer while the game was up and I got a bunch of blank screenshots in game, as if the game knew how many there should be but obviously couldn't get the details.  All the blanks were gone after I shut down and re-started the game.

Yes, like Helen said deleting or moving screenshots should be fine. I've moved my entire screenshots folder outside of the Electronic Arts folder and did nothing to the game.

The only 'problem' you might encounter is if it is a family you are currently playing and have some screenshots as memories for the sim to reminisce with to get into a certain mood. This really isn't an issue though as you can simply just take a new screenie for the mood anyway.

I try to keep the screenshot folder as empty as possible just to keep finding the right memory screenshot quick to find in-game and for lag purposes etc.

I thought the screenshot for memories to help Sim be in a certain mood was kinda (?) broken though? Or am I remembering that wrong?

It is 'broken' compared to what it was when the game first released. It still works but now for just a few emotions. The changes to the storage of screenshots and the fact that only a few moods work now all tends to make it rather obsolete from the really handy mechanic that is originally was.

In my experience you can set up memories for the same emotions that we had at the start, but instead of using 1 photo and picking whatever type of memory you want and changing it whenever you want, you now have to have a separate memory photo for each emotion, more realistic I suppose but also more annoying.

I used to have 1 photo per family and switch between all the available emotions using it, now you have to take a photo when a sim is in the correct mood to make a mood memory.  A flirty photo can no longer be changed to an inspired/angry/sad one and sims have to be flirty to make it.

The confident emotion over rides a few that we used to have but it certainly is still a somewhat useful way to get your sims into an emotion at the start of a game but the fact that you can not simply pick which emotion to be assigned to any screenshot I feel does take away some functionality that used to be there.
