[BUG] Action queue frustrations
« on: July 06, 2017, 04:27:58 PM »
Hey guys, this time it's gripe time.

I'm ready to pull out all of my hair as I write this - and trust me, there's quite a bit.

It's driving me insane that there's the visible queue with whatever orders you've given your Sim - and then there's an invisible queue with actions that your Sim has decided to do by themselves, or other Sims have ordered in secret.

Those two queues constantly conflict in my game.

Example:
I ordered my Sim to introduce himself to a townie standing next to him. Next, I ordered him to introduce himself to a different townie standing further away (I'm trying to have him complete the friend of the world aspiration). I ordered this last thing twice, but my Sim cancelled both times and then proceeded to chat with the townie next to him instead. It's like the Sim is telling me 'No, I'd rather do this instead. Na-na!' or the closer townie won my Sim's attention over me >:(

Can't those queues be refined or cleaned up, improved or something? It really is bothering me a lot, because what's the point of giving your Sim directions if they don't intend to follow them anyway? And toddlers are experts at challenging you for the adult Sim's attention - blasted little meanies :-\

Sorry, I don't know where else to take my frustrations. I don't mean to offend.

I'm not in the game right now, but I'm wondering if you have checked the "Disable Autonomy for Selected Sim" box already.

Of course, you've tried that already....just trying to be helpful. :-)

No, I haven't. I sometimes enable it - if I want my sim to finish reading a book, for instance. But otherwise, I feel that the lack of autonomy makes a sim lose personality. Personality is fine, I think. But conflicting queue actions are just bothersome. I would like to think that this can be mended by re-configuring the priority or something along those lines.

But thanks, anyway, oshizu (always read it 'oh, shih tzu' - you know, breed of dog)

I have experienced the same frustration! For me I feel it has gotten worse since the parenthood patch, I know I started experiencing the issue before getting the expansion.

It's very annoying when you are trying to influence your child to do something and the action is constantly dropped. I hope they fix it but feel like it's connected to increased autonomy somehow.

This issue sounded really familiar to me. It looks like it's a bug that's been occuring for awhile now.

Some tips you can try are:

1. Deleting game cache files and the localthumbcache.package file from the Sims 4 folder.
http://www.carls-sims-4-guide.com/forum/index.php?topic=21899.msg401662#msg401662

2. Turn of autonomy for your Sims in your game options.

3. Don’t queue interactions that trigger multi tasking right after each other.

Crinrict has more tips on her site:

Thanks, MrsFlynn - it's a relief to know that it's not supposed to be that way. I always clear the cache before loading the game, deleting the specified files/folders, so this shouldn't be adding to the problem.

I have resolved to disable autonomy for the controlled sim. At least for now. I might be more optimistic tomorrow ;D

Might be a stupid thing to ask, but as you sure the npc's haven't started to leave the lot or just sat down to do something.. sometimes the actions can be cancelled cause npc's just do random stuff.

Hi Franki - both townies were standing still on the road, but by different lots. They weren't moving or doing anything (seemingly) when I gave the commands.
