Selling Stuff in an Owned Retail Lot

Hi, I'm trying the build a city challenge for TS4 and have to have an owned retail lot. It's been quite a while since I've done TS4 and don't remember how the retail selling goes. Does the game sell only one of everything, meaning that once the item is sold, it's gone or does it sell a copy of the item and you can keep replacing it to sell again?

I decided to experiment by running the store and the game creates a copy out of thin air, lol  He had some of those My Sim tropies and he can keep replacing them even though he only had 1 of each originally.
