Geo Council..worth it?

Whats up with the Geo Council? It seems that everything I mail to them comes back with less value than before. Or is that just me? Is there a list of items I should and shouldn't send to them?

@snosberry I've noticed that calling them expands some of the descriptions of the items when mouse-over. I believe when sending them items you get back other more refined collectibles such as elements.

The Geo Council is the only way to get the elements collection, unless you have Get to Work so you can use the science equipment to find them on your own.

If you are just trying to make money from what you find, selling items through inventory should work just as well.
