Writing Songs

Hi, my sim is supposed to write songs and I clicked on the violin and there is no option to do that. I bought a guitar for her and still no option to do that? Did EA change how we write songs or is this one of the many, many glitches in CL now? Thanks!

Yes, I tried and no option there either.

Your sim needs to reach Level 8 on a musical instrument to get the Write Song... option.
Once your sim finishes writing a song, they need Level 9 in that instrument to be able to publish it (at the mailbox).

OK, I tried writing songs on her violin and she wrote 3 of them, but her aspiration thing says 0? When I have her "write song" and choose the same one that I did before, she just plays it. What do I do to satisfy the aspiration want? She has maxed out the violin skill now.

Whenever you choose "Write a song...," a Sheet Music item appears in the sim's personal inventory.
To continue writing that song, you need to go to your personal inventory and click on that Sheet Music thing. Your sim will then go to the instrument.
Each song takes at least 15 hours or so. When you actually finish a song, you will get a pop-up menu that lets you name the song. That's how you know a song is finished.

Good luck! Writing song is a total pain because it takes forever!!!
Also I only recently learned that writing a song on the City Living electric keyboard produces a black-colored digital composition object in the personal inventory, rather than the blue sheet music.
At first, I coudn't figure out why I couldn't finish writing a piano song on the electric keyboard...

Thanks for the heads up! I only did this b/c her aspiration assignments required her to write 4 songs. She is a musical genius.
