Drinking vs drinking deeply and aspiration progress

My vampire sim is ambitious (both literally and figuratively) and trying to complete all three of the vampire aspirations at once. She was up to 3 days without drinking deeply when she switched aspirations. During this time she drank from a friend with permission. When I went back to the Good Vampire aspiration, the 3 days progress was gone.

So the question is: did it reset because I switched aspirations, or did it reset because drinking with permission is the same as drinking deeply?

Drinking deeply is not the same as asking for permission. I have a vampire doing the Good Vampire aspiration, and he asked for permission to drink several times during the "go 5 days without drinking deeply" milestone period and he was fine. The days continued to count up. It must have reset because of switching aspirations, which is a bummer because switching aspirations doesn't usually reset your progress like that.

That's what I was expecting to hear. Now I'm wondering if it might be a bug, because it's been another 3-4 days and the counter hasn't restarted, though I have been careful of my sim's drinking habits. I have no mods, though I have topped off needs with the testing cheat.

I'm with you on it being a bug. I did the same thing and around day 3 or so switched to another aspiration briefly and it was reset back to 0/5. Seven or so days later with only eating plasma fruit and drinking with permission I still haven't made it to day 5 without drinking deeply... apparently.

I did start to think that even drinking with permission counts as drinking deeply if the need is under half filled but I have been a bit distracted and haven't tested that fully.

I have tried it too -- and when I went back I still had the days without drinking deeply.

Because while in the other aspiration I never drank deeply - so it continued from where I left
off - I think if you go to another aspiration and drink deeply there - you have not been
without drinking deeply in 14 days in a row and you have to start over.

But what you have experienced Playalot sounds like a bug indeed.

Yeah, it's weird. My vamp hasn't drunk deeply at any point. The other aspiration I switched to was the Body Builder aspiration as I haven't even started the other vamp aspirations with this particular vamp. tbh I've given up on it for now as it was getting frustrating. I'll try with another vamp in a new game at some point.
