Cannot download custom content on Macbook Pro
« on: January 25, 2017, 12:52:08 PM »
Hey guys!  :D

I'm having trouble downloading custom content (specifically files that are .package).

I've done these steps: http://modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Installing_Sims_3_Package_Files/Setup_and_Files about four times, and have uninstalled and reinstalled the game multiple times.

I'm going to walk you guys through what I do, and what my issues are.

Here, I SHOULD have a Documents file next to both of these, but I don't for some reason.

However, when I look up The Sims 3 on my computer, I have 2 different folders.

In one of the folders is all of the files from the pictures above ^
and in the other Sims 3 folder there is only these files and that's it:

Which, according to the tutorial SHOULD be in the Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 folder, but it's not. It's completely separate from my other files. I didn't touch anything, it just happened when I first loaded the game, made a few characters and saved the game.

Does anyone know what I can do? Thank you guys soo much for all your help in advance!

P.S. I have tried making my own Documents folder next to the Program files folder, and then inside of that making an EA and inside of that putting a Sims 3 folder, but it didn't work and I think it broke my game since nothing will save anymore.

What you're doing is the old way to install CC. With more recent patches, you don't need to open the application itself.
In The Sims 3 folder that you'll find in Macintosh HD -> Users -> (Your username) -> Documents -> Electronic Arts, create a folder called Mods. In it, create two folders, one called Packages and the other called Overrides. Download resource.cfg, unzip it and place it in the Mods folder next to Packages and Overrides. Most of your CC and mods go in the Packages folder. That's all you need to do with the 1.67 patch.
