Transfiguration for dummies

I read the transfiguration guide on the site as well as google around for a bit, but I still don't quite get it. I know how to make the different cuts and results come out, but I'm not sure what to do with the information. I'm interested in knowing how to get the highest amount of money from transfiguration.

What do I do with metal? Do I make them into Compendium or Supernovium? Should I use large ingots only to begin with?

Which cut do I get for gems? 2 cheap ones for Soulpiece or 5 different ones for Skull cut? Or create large gems?

I can't help much, for true. Most of what I know about transfiguration is what I've managed to get out of the Forum here, and that's not much.

I try making Compendium bars but all my attempts end in Supernovium or what ever it is called, it isn't worth much. But don't get me started on my Skull cuts! (Nonexistent)

In my own opinion, if your goal is pure money with transfiguration, I advise you to try the "mixed" transfiguration.

You can make a large amount of money by transfiguring mixed things to Tiberium and let it grow in your garden prior to selling it.
Or if you have a good § base and time ahead of you, try ton get some 50 000 § + nectar bottle and let them age in your basement.  An value increase of 10% is incredible if you begin with such bottles.

In order to get those bottles, the best way is to transfigure some tiberium, let them grow (so they will be 35 000 - 45 000 §) and use some of those high value gems in transfiguration into nectar bottles.

You make it sound like 10% is the max aging available for Nectar. Is it?

And also thanks to HelenP for the link to more info on Compendium. I'm confused though, why ever use Supernovium then if you get +25% value when using Compendium?

Well, I've made some bottles of nectar with mixing gems and metals. It seems to be that sims are very glad with it, drinking a glass of nectar worth over $100.000,- but it is a high don't-try-this-at-home thing though. My nectar seems to be high nuclear, since also plutonium is involved.

I'm still not quite sure what to do with my gems. I gues soulpiece or skull-cut is the way to make the most of my gems.

I try to stack my ingots in the display, but it's a real pain in the behind.  I takes me forever to position the 2nd one such that it stacks, and I've never once been able to get a 3rd one to stack.  It's not that there is a problem with my game, per se.  It's that I can't position my mouse in the right way.  Is that insane?

If I am going to stack ingots, I place the ones being stacked on the ground and stack them there, which is much easier then pick up the bottom of the stack and place it on the display case.

Hey regarding transfiguration for Gems.
I placed 4 large heartshaped soulpeace, 1 brilliant cut soulpeace, and 3 other small stuff like emerald cut emerald etc.
I made sure there were 5 different cuts and 4 gem types.
but darn all I got was a Skullcut Soulpeace that is worth 38k. The gems combined were worth about 100k.
Was it because I used a mixture of large and normal sized gems?

1) Skull cuts are pretty, not particularly profitable, particularly not profitable if you sink in 4 large heart cuts to make it, it's much better if you use cheap cuts and small gems.
2) The 4 different gems part was unnecessary, and also dangerous. When you put 5 different cuts you will get a skull cut gem, regardless of what gems or how many different ones you used. The resulting type of gem is chosen at random from what you put in, so you ran a chance of getting a skull cut emerald.
3) The formula produces a large skull cut gem, regardless of the size of what you put in. Using large gems for it is not particularly efficient.

I see.. so if my aim is just to generate money,  I should just sell the large heart cuts right without further modifications?
Cause I was following the little guide on this website on transfiguration, it said skull cuts get 10x the value of the chosen gem. So I was hoping for bagazillions of simoleons if I sank in the large heartcuts lol.

10x of the value of the BASE gem, as in, uncut large soulpiece.
If you want to make money, just make compendium.

So by mixing up gems (only gems) you could get Skull cuts and spire cuts. If your sim is a sculpter, the egg form will be available for every gem type also.
Are there any other form of cuts available?
