Sims 3 games disappearing
« on: January 09, 2017, 08:42:41 PM »
My daughter has had several times where it seems her Sims 3 resets to a first time use, deleting all of her saved games along with anything that has been downloaded from the store.
I've checked and there are no corrupt files, they are just gone!
Has anyone else had this issue? If so, is there a fix?
Thanks!!

You may want to see if OneDrive is turned on. By default OneDrive synchronizes the my documents folder to the cloud server. This has been known to cause problems with the game.

After disabling OneDrive synchronization log into the OneDrive account and check to see if the saved games are there.

In the steps below it explains how to find your files the computer. And how to disable OneDrive.

1. Search the hard drive for Sims 3. -- Click Start > Search for Sims 3. The Sims 3 folder should be in your Documents folder. However, it may have been moved by accident. If it is found to be some where else. Move or copy it back to the Documents folder.

2. The computer may have saved the contents of the Sims 3 folder, including the save files to OneDrive. If using Windows 8 or 10, this maybe turned on and sync'd automatically/by default. (**If logged in with a Microsoft Account)

3. Check OneDrive's settings to make sure it's set to keep files on local drive. (Not the cloud as that may be part of the problem.)

To learn more about OneDrive, please see the link below:

** Note: We cannot be support for OneDrive as we do not use it. If issues arise please see the above link to see if it will help.

Here's an article that should help with turning off OneDrive.

Turn off or uninstall OneDrive

The user files should still be in their default location (C:\Users\<Username>\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3) and save there. Once you turn off syncing with OneDrive. It will no longer save a copy to OneDrive.
