Handiness bugs

My poor sim has two handiness bugs. She cannot order parts online, it is not an option (other options to buy things are there), and she cannot salvage an item into parts! (I tried pulling apart a radio, and it just disappeared, no parts). Her only option is to dig through rubbish or fish for items which option 1 is not in line with my current no garbage challenge, and option 2 is VERY slow, since she is not wasting any food. I tried taking the 2 parts she has out of her inventory, but still no joy.

Does anyone know of any fixes or workarounds?

If you have City Living, you could give your lot the Gremlins trait. This should cause everything to break when your Sim is asleep. After fixing everything, and rummaging through the scrap before you throw it away, she should get some parts. You might also try selling your computer and buying a different one. I've noticed that some of the houses that came with the base game don't always have everything available. The BFF household in Willow Creek, for example, has bookshelves that you can't buy books from, and I don't think you can order everything from the computer there -- you can get new things, that came with expansions, but not what supposedly came with the base game..

This seems a rather common bug. I think most people seem to have solved it buy selling the old pc and buying a new computer.

A new pc does the trick at home. I can't order them while at the library though, which I was hoping, but that's ok. My sim can continue with her zero waste lifestyle

You've never been able to order parts off the home lot anyway. I don't think that is a bug, rather an intended part of game play.
