Thinking of buying LateNight Expansion, need advice.
« on: November 30, 2010, 07:09:51 AM »
Hello people,

I need some advice or at least some opinion please, I love Sims 3 and have all the expansion and stuff except the new one, LateNight.
I do want to buy it, but i searched some information on other site or forum, including this forum, and thought that LateNight is full of glitches and bugs.
now I'm not sure i should buy this one. what i want to know is, are those glitch and bugs really ruin your gameplay? how much bother it gives you?
the thing is, i enjoyed what i have now, and i dont have so much money to spend right now. i fear that, if i buy it with my limited fund, i will disappoint with the bugs.

but if it turns out those bug are not that bothering, maybe i can stand it and still buy it.  :)

Thankyou for your time people,

(oh, and I'm new and please excuse my possible grammar mess, still learning English)

Hi again, project!

Yes, there are some bugs in Late Night, but there have been bugs in every other expension pack that has been released.  These bugs are no worse than those.  In fact, they probably aren't as bad.  I'm able to play Late Night just fine and I love it.  I think it may be the best of the expansion packs released so far, even though I'm not a big fan of vampires.  I love the clubs and celebrities.  I love playing in the new town, Bridgeport, too.  It's very different from Sunset Valley, Riverview, and Twinbrook.  If you wait for it to be completely bug free, you'll be waiting a very long time because these games always have some sort of bug or another happening.

project_s2, do you have the latest patch? Because I've noticed that most of the bugs came with the patch as well. I played with the patch for quite a while before I got LN and since playing LN I have't seen any difference in bugs or glitches since I got the patch.

As Pam said, LN is brilliant, and I love the vampires :-) There's loads in it, lots of stuff, extra gameplay, lots of little extra things like more dance moves, interactions, etc. I'm really really enjoying.

Ah  :) thankyou again Pam for the reply, I hope I'm not a bug for you
and also thankyou malteser60,  :) and yes, i do have the latest patch, so you mean, with the latest patch, there are no significant different with it's bug? (it's playable)

And yes, i do realize all the expansion has bugs, maybe i wasn't doing research about bug back then, so i just bought it. and now when i do research about bug in latenight
it made me think twice  :(
do you mind if i consult about this latenight expansion with anyone please? question like, neighborhood, gameplay? since i don't have the expansion yet.

if you don't have time, it's okay, just skip my question.  :) and thankyou,

but otherwise,

i wonder, can i play all the new features in sunset valley? (by moving all the related building in bridgeport to sunset valley)
like, being celebrities, vampires. The thing is, i feel attached to my current family, and i read that by moving my family (in sunset valley) to the bin and placing it to the new
bridgeport will post some problem, and of course i will lose all my friend and all. (just like starting a new game)

How about anyone? do you make a new game with bridgeport? and manage 2 savegames? or maybe you're not that attached to the old household so you just make a new game? are there any workaround? or maybe tips?  :D

Thankyou for your kind reply!

Yes, you can put the Bridgeport buildings into other towns.  I'm playing in Sunset Valley and have put in 4 of the clubs.  It's not all of them, but it's enough to make my gameplay fun.

Late Night is definitely playable, the bugs are not so bad to stop this. From my experience I have not seen new bugs since installing LN - the bugs that come with LN are also in the patch. Somebody else in this forum may say different - this is only from my gameplay experience. The worst one I found so far is ordering maid service and you get lots of maids turning up. When they leave you pay each one, which can amount to lots of simoleans!

Thankyou malteser60,

I also read some bug that make all the sims in neighborhood stuck on one lot, but usually it happens in Bridgeport. They tried all the methods
but nothing worked, that sure create a dilemma for me. (I want this bad, but sims stuck on one lot without solution is no good).  :-[

How about you? Which town you played the Late Night?
Ah, I do hope EA launch their new patch.

All the sims stuck on one lot? That sounds like a impressive glitch. Do you have more information than that, like what lot/lots and what techniques they tried to fix it? Also, this could be a result of people using mods and such, or content from the exchange messing up a part of the game. Still, I have yet to see this in my game, and I've probably restarted about 20 or so Bridgeport games(I am very flighty when it comes to my saved sim games.)

Also, welcome to the site, Projects_s2! :D

I think it's pretty easy to work in the new features of Late Night into an old game file. I have a big happy family set up in Sunset Valley, and since I installed Late Night, they've been interacting with vampires and celebrities, mixing drinks, and throwing fancy parties at clubs just fine. I even split up one of the kids from the household and moved her into Bridgeport, so I could explore the new city with a familiar face. Also, I haven't noticed any bug-related problems. My gameplay is a little slow when there is a cluttered lot (items or people), but that is normal for my old trusty MacBook.

I was attached to my Sim family AND their great modernist house.  I figured they would be perfect for Bridgeport (BP), being celebrities is natural for them. So I saved them with their house in the family bin and copied it into BP. Let me tell you, my first game in BP was horrible! I suffered the choppy game! I thought I would never play BP again, I began to regret buying LN. But I didn't give up. I thought it was the big house that was causing the choppiness, so I just copied the family (without the house). THEN I deleted the whole BP , because all the homes their became choppy.  I created a new BP and placed my family in one of the mansions there, it wasn't as good as their original modern home, (in fact they are still unhappy moving to this house upto now), but my game is fine , no more choppiness. The Sims are now enjoying their celebrity levels!  Ditto with other families in BP. I'm sharing this with you so you won't be surprised to encounter some disappointment after installing BP, on the other hand, the EP is not hopeless either. But the specs of the computer really have to be good for the game to work well. I wish you luck!
