Screenshots and Reminiscing
« on: December 17, 2015, 02:24:38 PM »
The Dec patch has changed all this totally. So all the old references are now incorrect. The UI has changed completely and now you can not assign a screenshot and emotion other than the dominant one (and not all the emotions now either) that the sim was in while the screenshot was taken. Also if you now delete/move that screenshot that is a memory it now disappears from your tagged memories. To reminisce you have to scroll through all your screenshots, there doesn't seem to be a separate place for them now in-game. At least not that I've been able to find anyway.

So the screenshot here is wrong, and the link to the old system too and those instructions are now obsolete.

I'm finding it a lot harder to use.  So far had no joy getting a focused memory, but have managed happy, confident and inspired.  My sim was very focused and I was zoomed right in on her.  Other sims in the household were inspired and confident and I got confident memories from the 4 screenshots I tried.

ETA just tried again with 2 sims focused, 1 inspired and 1 happy and I still got a confident memory.

Crud,  seems their attempt to improve this feature kind of backfired. Sims doesn't need this kind of balancing,  so it's unfortunate. I'll see if I can even incorporate the the new way as useful.  At least happy memories would provide the boost....  But as we go along,  we get more options for emotions to the point this isn't as useful as it once was.

The page on the photography skill guide also has some references to the old memory system and a screenshot that is out of date too now. Here

I got the same result. No Playful, no focused as far as I tried.
Very hard to be escaped from Sims.

Thanks @Playalot and for others for posting experiences with the new system. I've cut it from photography/emotions for now. I don't want to say X emotions work while Y do not, then go back in one more patch cycle and say they're all fixed or broken again. For the moment it's a quick fix just to remove the inaccuracy, though I'd like to point out where it DOES work because it was a cool little trick.

@Carl, had a comment on the guide that mentions it would have been nice to have this info actually on the guide. I'm still not sure if it is worth it as only a few emotions are possible now and you still have to scroll through all your screenshots to find the one tagged as the memory.  :-\

Yeah it seems the feature was kind of gutted and made more of a hassle. As we get more and more things in the base game it becomes less useful to dig through shots to do this. Still our goal is to inform and it's a feature that's not mentioned now, so I should at least point out it is possible.
