Laptop for Sims 3
« on: October 30, 2016, 03:20:10 AM »
Hi, looking at getting a new laptop to play sims 3 as my current one isn't coping too well any more with it.

Went into the local shops to look at different ones, saw the following one

Acer
E5 523g 9qw
AMD a-941 dual core processor with turbo core techology up to 3.5ghertz
8b ram
1tb hdd
Radeon r5m430 with 2gb dedicated vram
$798
http://www.acer.com/ac/en/AU/content/model/NX.GDLSA.001 is a link to the page at ACER for the computer with its full specifications

Was wondering if that would be any good for Sims 3.

Yes this should do okay in medium settings. The graphics has slower memory (DDR3). So you may see some lag/freezing here and there.

Thanks Mrs Flynn,

I went ahead and bought it from the store online, it was $100 cheaper than their price in store, I have it up and running on the new laptop, including all my store content and it seems to be running better than it ever did, even on my desktop.

I don't have Pets, Seasons, Island Paradise, Into the Future or a few of the stuff packs installed, but I was able to get my Citrus family saved game into the new game and it is all working very well.

Thank you @Flynn Arrowstarr and @MrsFlynn for all your help in designing the guide and for reviewing specs for all of us when we want to get new computers for Sims 3/4 (and for writing your guide in language that's not overly technical)
