Ambition Patches
« on: January 23, 2011, 06:41:29 AM »
I apologize if this has been asked, but I'm having difficulty looking through numerous old posts to find the information. I just received the Ambition expansion pack for Christmas and was wondering if there are any patches that need to be downloaded?  I'm reading about this issue, but unsure how many patches there are since it was released.  If anyone could possible post a link for me to use, I would appreciate it.  I'm new to the forum, but have used this site "numerous" times.  This is without a doubt the best site for any and all sims help.  Thanks :)

What I always do is just open my launcher, and when there is a new patch it will show that there are game updates available.  I click on that, and then it will apply the patch.  If I'm not mistaken, you will only have to apply whatever was the highest patch level for Ambitions and not any ones that might have been in-between so this way you don't have to go and search them out.

Thanks.  I'm having some problems with the launcher. It could be my anti-virus protection.  I'm wondering if I need to uninstall all my sims 3 product and start over.

It seems a bit drastic to reinstall everything and you could still end up with launcher problems.  ???  You could try removing the Sims 3 folder in your documents folder - move it to your desktop, and let the game regenerate a new one just to see if you can open the launcher then.  This would provide much the same effect as uninstalling/reinstalling.

The latest patch should have been installed when you installed Ambitions. You don't have to worry about any that went before it because all the changes should have been incorporated into the latest one.

There was also a new version of EADM (EA Download Manager) that works with the launcher here .  I had to install this even though I have the disks just so my launcher would work correctly to install my updates.
You might want to give it a try.

It's always a good idea to reinstall your game from time to time, and when you add an expansion pack is a good time to do it.  Regardless if you reinstall or not, the game will prompt you to install the patch before it will install Ambitions.  You don't have to worry about finding the right patch(es) yourself.
