Scientist - Co-Workers No Longer have Metals or Crystals?

I noticed this during the collecting challenge and I'm seeing it again during testing for the cloning challenge.  None of my co-workers ever seem to have metals or crystals anymore.  They all yawn (in multiple games with different Sims) and say they don't have anything today. 

Anyone else getting this or are my Sims just special (as usual)?

Yes, I get it, too. I do occasionally get a crystal -- I think if they're friends.

I think it may be linked to the friendship level. I've only had that reaction maybe twice. Usually they cough up a crystal or metal straight away.

*Added: Maybe it is linked to the level that your scientist sim is currently at; the higher the level the more likely this interaction will succeed.

I was having trouble with it during the Cloning Around challenge, even after reaching high ranks of the scientist career and befriending coworkers. I think it is some kind of bug, unfortunately. There's a few bugs I've noticed in my games after the latest patch.

I'm probably going to jinx myself since I haven't started the Cloning Around challenge.
During the Collecting Challenge, my two sims each spent a few days in the Scientist career (Level 1) and neither had any trouble receiving both a crystal and a metal from every co-worker they asked.
They stopped hitting up their co-workers, however, because I noticed that they were only receiving the cheaper stuff whereas my collections were missing the rarer crystals and metals.

@oshizu usually the co-workers will give you common or uncommon as that is what is needed mostly as you level up the career. I think I've had a rare collectible but not as the norm for sure.
