Parenting Guide : Birthdays
« on: November 16, 2010, 05:15:39 PM »
I was reading an article (http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/skills/parenting/birthdays.php) and I found two errors.

1.
Quote
Aging Up Early
Your Sim can age up early one time during their life. Do this by buying a birthday cake and blowing out the candles and they'll get older. Use it wisely.

I am not 100% sure about this, but I think sims can age up early more than once, as I think I have done this before when making babies to toddlers and toddlers to children in 3-5 days.

2.

Where are Birthday Cakes in the Sims 3?
This question gets asked a lot! You can find the birthday cakes on the outdoors tab, under outdoor activities (click the football). Click the cake once it's on the counter or table, to allow your Sim to choose who gets to blow out the candles. Choose the birthday boy or girl. Every Sim at the party will come to gather round, and your Sim will blow out the candles. At that point, they will grow/age into the next life stage.

You can also buy birthday cakes at the grocery store, in case the sim happens to be shopping.

Again, I am not 100% sure about #1, but I am positive with #2. I'm not recently patched (and I can't talk about it - its forbidden to) so #1 could be wrong.

Yeah you can age up early more than once, the thing is that if your Sim just aged up then they can't do it straight after, you have to wait for a few days until they are a few days from their Birthday so that the option for them to blow out candles comes up.

Okay, so that confirms that we can age up early more than once.

Thomas,

Are you certain enough of this for me to make a change to the Guide?

Can you test it with a toddler and see how many times you can age him/her up early with birthday cake?

Okay. I think that Sam here is right, I think they can only age up early a few days after the last as I remembered that I would age up the baby, teach the toddler, and age the toddler. So Sam is probably right, but it shows they can age up early more than once.
