Lag when clicking on Sims
« on: January 12, 2014, 08:34:09 PM »
It only happens when clicking on sims, mine or otherwise. This includes pets. I can click on objects just fine, but when I click on sims etc. to interact with them, the menu loads for a good 10 seconds, which is really getting annoying whilst trying to make friends or take care of children. It happens in all my save files, new and old, any town. I'm running the latest version of the game, NRaas mods (register, storyprogression, overwatch), all EPs and SPs. I've deleted cache files, reset the town, and I've used Delphy's dashboard tool to remove conflicting and corrupted content. I'm all out of ideas. I'd be thankful for any kind of help. I've checked other threads by people that have or have had the same problem, none of the suggestions helped.

I'm running Windows 7 (64-bit) and nvidia GeForce GTS 450 (all drivers updated) if that matters to anyone.

Hi T3knosoulz,

Thank you for letting us know what tips you have tried.

From what I understand you may get some game lag when using mods due to various reasons.

Try running the game without the mods to see if the lag is still there. Add each mod back in until you find which mod maybe causing the lag. If you find the lag being caused by a mod, leave that mod out.

If you're anything like me and like to play Sims for 2+ hours or more a day, saving often and restarting the computer every now and again helps with some of the lag and freezing.

Hope this helps, :)

Checking back in.

I factory reset my game, took out absolutely everything except my options.ini, and made sure it wasn't just my system, and it's not. I put my mods in, and they were fine. I put my towns in, they were fine too. But when I started adding in CC from the Sims 3 store, it started acting up again. So I guess there's something in there that my game doesn't like...

I remember this happened a long while ago with a doll they put on the store as well, I guess it was just an EA flub. If I ever figure out what it is exactly, I'll try to remember to post it here... but at this point I think I'm just going to run a vanilla game anyway.

Thanks for the help, MrsFlynn :)

Sorry for reviving this thread, but I always have this problem. Both with and without mods/cc/store content. I even uninstalled and reinstalled. I hope this is just a hardware problem because I plan to upgrade to a desktop later. This bugs me along with sims flipping or stuttering through doors and arches. Even on low settings, it still happens, but isn't as noticeable. I've even reinstalled and factory reset for this problem too and it still doesn't resolve itself. Hopefully it's just because my iGPU can't push frames out fast enough.
