Rename save files, advice please. *Fixed!!*
« on: July 02, 2016, 12:52:35 PM »
So I tried Flynn's advice here http://www.carls-sims-4-guide.com/forum/index.php?topic=22067.0 but failed royally, because when I restarted sims 4 there were no files, I needed to start a new game and save, yet the old saved games were not visible. I did save the games on my new computer in my documents, so worst case scenario, I can start over. But where did I go wrong?

I renamed the files in the saves file (for example Slot_00000003.save.ver1 to Slot_00000033.save.ver1 ? Did I go to high? Was I not meant to do that?

I also deleted lots of files, like the earlier versions of the same file. Was I not meant to do that? Should I only rename, and never delete?

I'm not sure if I'm understanding the problem correctly, but it sounds like the problem might be that you've failed to rename the save file correctly?

If that's it. It should be fairly easy to rename.

Let's take what you have for an example:

You've got save Slot_00000003.save.ver1. What you would do with this, is rename it. Slot_00000003.save to be able to see it in-game correctly.

It doesn't matter what numbers you give your saves. If you want to take them back into game, you'll need to take the .ver1 off the name.

Take a look at the link below for more on restoring saved games.
