Childhood Skills and Skill Career Levels

Hello, I've got a question about training skills in childhood.  I'm attempting the Immortal Dynasty Challenge as a way to really dig in and learn about how the game works, and my Gen 2 is being aimed at the skill career for writing.  She's still a child and has just finished her first book.  My question is, do the royalties she earns now as a child get taken into account once she becomes an adult and registers as a writer?  Or will those books simply be counted for the supermaxing of the skill and not as money made for her career?

They will not count towards her writer career.  If you have ambitions though, as soon as your heir becomes a teenager she can sign up to be a writer at city hall and then everything she writes will go towards her career after that.

I think that only funds earned after registering will count. However the practice will improve the base of the value of her books so she will have more valuable books later on. I know that the Writing Career has proved to be difficult for some in the past. Pam had to switch to Journalism with Forest Dreamweaver when he was something like 75 Days because it wasn't working. I think that it's because Writing is so slow and royalties from travelling don't count or something.

But, thank you, and it's good to know she can register as a teen.  Gives her a lot longer to get all the requirements done!

Just a small point, if you have your sim write children's books it is surprising how quickly you can supermax writing.  Although it is not obvious if you look at the given book length, they are actually significantly quicker to write.  This means writing a lot less to complete the supermax challenges, and a higher chance of writing bestsellers etc.  Also, If you have WA you can go abroad and write 95% of a "Masterpiece" while on holiday then complete the last 5% (for full career progression acreditation) when you get home.  Obviously, children's books get the lowest royalties, but the shear number that can be produced in a single session easily compensate for this.

The same priciple applies when trying to supermax painting, paint only small pictures until you have completed the challenges then switch to medium or large if you wish.
