Windows 10?

First, apologies if this has been covered. I did a search, but I'm on my phone and frustrated and might have missed it.

Despite telling my laptop NO! several times, when I wasn't watching, Win10 started installing. Does Sims 4 play nice with it? Anything I need to be prepared for?

I have had no problems with it on Windows 10.

I've successfully installed most of the Sims games in Windows 10 with few problems. Mostly just tweaking graphics settings in Sims 2 using Graphics Rule Maker and manually editing the same files in Sims 3 for my newer graphics cards. The games run quite well in Windows 10.

Otherwise, the only thing you'll need to prepare for is the new interface. Though, it's not as jarring as the shift from Windows 7 to Windows 8. Also, if you play older games, there have been a number of behind the screens tweaks that improve compatibility with older titles.

If you really don't like Windows 10, you can roll back to Windows 7. Search out the instructions online. You have 30 days from installation to decide if you want to roll back. I would give Windows 10 a chance though. To me, it's been a lot better than what the naysayers say.

Thanks for the responses! As long as everything works, I'll probably end up keeping it. The only thing I'm worried about now is horror stories I've read about being unable to sign in because of forgotten passwords. I don't even know if my laptop user account HAS a password, because I bought it refurbished from a family member who does that for a living. Desperately trying to find out if he's still awake right now!

I can understand how you feel. My computer updated to Windows 10 behind my back when I left it on while I left the house and was visiting some friends for the day. I come back home to find I was now running Windows 10.
But I can say it didn't cause me any problems with The Sims 3 or Sims 4 or my other games. The first time I started the game it was like when I ran the game for the first time. Everything in the options was reset to the default and the game hints and everything was back on. So I had to reset all of that.
But I had no problems with any of my saves or the mods that I run.

Everything appears to be working fine. I haven't played any Sims 4 yet, but I ran the program, and it loaded fine. Saves are in good order.

No problems with Win10 & Sims here. I upgraded from 8, so there's really not much incentive to roll back, since the differences are minor. All things considered, I haven't really had any problems with Win10, except for issues, when trying to deal with multiple user accounts. Origin seems to work fine. I don't like the way it is pushed, but haven't found much to complain about. The upgrade was intentional, because I wanted to know what I was getting in to. At the time, I had a backup machine. (which has conked out on me) I didn't want to be forced into it, without knowing what to expect. It was mostly a clean install, then an upgrade.

Funny thing...the same thing happened to me just this week.  Often when I am playing Sims, if there is a pop-up in the background, and I click on that area of the screen, my computer will switch me out of the game to the pop-up unexpectedly.  Usually it is just a Web Storage reminder in the bottom left corner. I click it and go on with my game.

However, wasn't I surprised when I must have clicked on just the right spot on the screen the other day to start the download of Windows 10.  I lost a few hours of game time because it restarted and I didn't have a chance to save. 

Luckily, I don't hate Windows 10.

I've had no problems with playing any of the Sims games and find the search box at the bottom to be quite useful.

I click it and go on with my game.

You didn't click wrong. After months of expecting to just close the window, Microsoft changed the security level of the update (to recommended? not sure the actual name), so that closing the pop-up would essentially be a confirmation instead of a rejection. That's how I got caught. Pretty shady, if you ask me, but I'm also not hating it yet. The only problem I've noticed is, sometimes after Sims 4, my start menu doesn't work. This seems to happen at the same time Origin locks up, which is something I was already faced with sometimes.
