One day, Yuki was overcome on the flight deck.
Fourth could sense her pain…
He was not prepared for what faced him when he turned around.
He was despondent when Death took her.
He attacked Death with all his fury.
But there was nothing to be done. Beloved Yuki was gone.
Fourth filled her room with floating glo-flowers from Sixam and placed her urn on an altar.
There was no measure of his grief.
When he left her room, he locked it to everyone but himself. No one would ever set foot in it again but him.
In the morning, he had to break the news to Sawyer.
As sad as he was, he knew what Fourth must be going through and did his best to comfort him.
He gave Fourth some space to grieve.
It came time for Sawyer’s aging day. Fourth didn’t feel like celebrating but he owed it to Sawyer to try. So he dutifully baked a cake.
They threw a small party at a club.
But Fourth’s heart just wasn’t in it.
And he couldn’t shake the feeling that everywhere he went, Yuki was still there.
Funny how lonely he could feel, even with the essence of her all around him.
