@Playalot

The main areas I have noticed it is Sylvan Glade and both the parks (Willow Creek and Oasis Springs). Mainly because those are the places my sims have been recently. Grow Fruit trees have replaced the cherry tree and pear tree (?) that are usually behind/around the Landgrabs house as well.

Where the plants/bushes would normally be, instead there is now a Grow Fruit tree.

The plants/bushes that are in planters all seem to be how they should be though. For example by Johnny Zests house, the communal gardens etc.

It's really interesting how everyone's games are different. In one of my games I still don't have any wild grow fruit trees and yet there you are with basically too many!

It isn't every tree. For example, the cherry trees in Sylvan Glade were replaced, but the cherry trees by the Caliente house were still there in my game. I *think* the only recipes that calls for  specific tree fruits are apple pie and grilled fruit. Both plantains and apples can be gotten in a seed packet.
Superfood salad requires pomegranate.  :)

Like @Joria says, grafting is the fastest path to high-quality growfruit.
I have a sim at the Granite Falls kiosk now, where growfruit is also being sold for $15 apiece.

I wonder how growfruit compares as a fertilize to, say, fish?

Whattttt??!!!  It's at the kiosk?  Any in the wild in Granite Falls?  Now that makes me wonder if it can be found on Sixam?  *Runs off to use Wormhole Generator*

EDIT:  Nope.  No growfruit trees but there are Easter Eggs on Sixam.
What?  Grannies can't play games?

Lol, Joria!  Joooriiiaaa!  Come baaaacckk!!!  No, I didn't see any wild growfruit trees in Granite Falls, though I only visited the Lodging and Nat'l Park areas.
(What did you find on Sixam?)

@Tigerskin
In another episode in the continuing saga of the overgrown Growfruit Trees, I started a new game today.  When looking for lemon trees, I had the same experience as you with your cherry trees.
I arrived at one area, fished a bit until the tree saplings sprouted---good, good, they're lemon!  I continue fishing in the area but when I return to check, there are growfruit trees instead.
This happened to me both at the Calientes neighborhood and the Oasis Spring/Magnolia Blossom Park. Two days down the drain.

On the third day, I found a grown lemon tree near Johnny Zest's place, it was taking forever to bear fruit. While I was off complaining to my friend on this forum via PM, my sim fished up a lemon, LOL.
I should have waited until after the Easter Challenge to start the challenge I'm doing now. I don't need cherry tress, but I did notice that Sylvan Glade in my game has only Growfruit.

Has anyone been trying them out as fertilizer?

@oshizu

That's interesting. I assumed that because the patch was after I started my game, that the update changed the trees, not that they changed within the game.

Odd that they start off as one tree and change throughout... I doubt that was the planned effect surely?

Finished first part of the challenge!  I was concerned Jasmine would not show up at night but she does.  I also was concerned she would take all 60 of my fruits but she took only the needed 20 and unlocked the planter.  Looks nice in my garden!  She gave me more fertilizer too.

I discovered you cannot give another person the grow fruit or the fertilizer.  I wanted just one of my couples to do the fertilizing and wanted to drag some from one person to another.  Can't do it.  What happens is it switches the fertilizer to whatever else is in your inventory.  If you want to share the fruit, you have to first put it in the refrigerator and then another Sim can take it from there.

I couldn't share the fertilizer but I could swap the fruit to another sim easy enough. I finally got my trees to grow some fruit but I had to do a factory reset, repair game and delete cache files first!

@Joria  My sims could also exchange growfruit but not the fertilizer.

Hi!

I didn't see any wild growfruit trees in my game, but I eventually did manage to grow "perfect" growfruit at my Sims home. I was able to get the special fertilizer several times (over a several Sim day period of time) and was glad that I achieved my goal (I just started playing and was at zero skill level in gardening).

Huh.  My guys couldn't at least not before I did a clean out and factory reset.  Haven't tried since.  The pink bunny you get for the eggs is cute.  The planter is nice as well.

Interestingly I found that the fertilizer has borrowed one of the fish icons.

I tried dragging fertilizer from one sim to my gardening sim. It pinged back to the first sim. Later on I went into build mode and noticed a fish lying on the ground. I picked it up in build mode and could move it to the family inventory. I put it back on the ground and returned to live mode. No fish! Went into buy mode this time, the fish was there and could be sold or placed into the household inventory.

That's when I realized that that was exactly where my sims had been standing when I tried to drag the fertilizer. So I went back into live mode tried dragging fertilizer between sims again... back into buy mode, yep, another fish on the floor which is invisible in live mode!

This doesn't really mean anything, nor does it particularly matter but I thought I'd share anyway.  :)

Right now, because I am spending time in the Museum and the gym in Willow area, the trees have been replaced by growfruit trees in the picnic area in the back.  I have collected 78 fruit from the wild trees so far.
Use as fertilizer,  I have been using growfruit as fertilizer for my garden, including my grow fruit tree there.  I do not notice any difference in  growth rates etc from the trees and the growfruit tree. Right now I have superb level, not yet reached perfect level yet.
My friend has not found any growfruit trees in the picnic area even though she spent a half a day in the museum and library at willow.
Does your traits make a difference whether wild growfruit trees grow? For example I have the geek trait, Loves outdoors trait, my first aspiration was gardening and I have the collector trait.  my friend does not have the geek trait.
