Fishing jump bug?
« on: March 08, 2016, 06:03:11 PM »
So far, I've noticed this with two fish, the wolf eel and the angler fish. The Sim is fishing and I can see her catch the fish. Then she resets and the fish disappears. It does not show up in her inventory, nor does she get credit for catching it. It happened with the angler fish in the Sylvan Glade pond and the wolf eel in the area behind the Willow Creek Library. About a week ago, in a different save, I had no problems but I first noticed it in that save a couple of days ago. I started a new game and it's still happening.

I play without mods and I've repaired the game and deleted cache files. No luck. It's kind of hard to test and duplicate since those two fish are rare and not easy to catch. I guess my next step is to do a factory re-set and cheat fishing skill so I can see if the problem persists. Has anyone else had this problem?

Are you placing items around your sim on the ground while fishing such as elements or frog-tanks? I do this as it helps to boost the emotions with an environment score and a focused buff from the elements.
However sometimes having these items around cause my sim to do the T-jump/reset thing.

I had a look around the bug forum and couldn't find anything that relates. I think perhaps a factory reset is the best next step. Also try to keep your sims inventory as empty as possible, if you're not already doing this, as large inventories are known to cause problems.

Sorry I can't offer any more help, I'll keep my eyes peeled though for anything related.

*edited: Just a thought, do you use CC? You've said you don't use mods but outdated CC can cause weird issues too.

Maybe it is an inventory issue. I'll try emptying out the inventory and see what happens. No CC.

About the factory reset. Once I start a new game, do I just replace the saves and tray folders from my current game? I've read the instructions, but I want to make sure I understand correctly.

It looks like the factory reset worked. I am so tired of swapping files around and watching a Sim fish for hours waiting for one of these stupid fish to show up! I still have no idea what caused it. I kept my Sim's inventory the same for the first test (didn't want to change two things at once) and it didn't seem to have any effect. That's not to say that wasn't the cause of the corruption, though. I'm going to be more mindful of how much I carry around from now on!

Thanks for the help.
