Is it possible to make a member of your household an NPC?
I know I could just not control these sims but, and this may just be an example of experimenters bias on my end, I've always found that PCs tend to be a lot stupider than NPCs, and, regardless, it would be nice to remove the temptation to control these sims.
If you're curious, I ask because one of my households is made up of a grandfather and his grandson. The grandfather is supposed to die soon, and I want to be able to continue controlling the grandson so I had the household move in with the grandfather's best friend. I want the best friend's household to keep doing their own things while I control the grandson.
