My sims look deformed!! - Sims 3
« on: January 16, 2016, 10:42:40 AM »
Hello everyone  :),
So my sims 3 game has been having this horrible issue. I have no clue what it is, but I think it first appeared when I updated my game to the 1.69.43.024017 version (the one where you can choose which expansion packs you want to play with). I played the sims on this PC for 2 years and now because of this patch my sims look like this and my sims 3 settings (default) :

I had all my CC uninstalled (I deleted the Mods folder) and it still didn't fix it, so I uninstalled all of my sims 3 games (even the base game I mean everything), I deleted the old folder and I downloaded the base game (only) again and I still have this issue and I really want to cry because the sims are literally my life. I have tried looking on different websites but I wasn't really sure of what kind of issue I was looking for I tried "deformed sims" "my sims look horrible"etc... but I couldnt find anything that could've helped me so I decided to come here and hope that someone can fix this issue or just direct me to another post with an answer to this issue.
Please, someone.

I don't know maybe it's because I havent updated my windows to windows 10, I'm still on windows 8 but I don't how that would affect my game.
Thanks :)

sorry the images are so big idk how to make them smaller

Usually this is caused by bad cc or when you have a Mod that needs to be updated. It sounds like you removed all of that though. Double check to make sure all clothes and hair are EA issued. I'm still using windows 7 and my daughter uses windows 8.1 without problems so I'm pretty sure it's not your operating system.

Here's a few things to try:

1. Run Cceaner and it's registry cleaner

Ccleaner, It's free

- https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download?mac -- Mac

How to use CCleaner to fix PC issues

2. Update your video card drivers.

Update your drivers (HowTo)
http://help.ea.com/en/article/finding-devices-and-updating-drivers/

3. Make sure to move the mods folder to the desktop.

4. Try playing a new game to test - to make sure everything is looking and running okay.

Some mods have been updated to patch level 1.69. So you may need to go through your mods to see which may need to be updated.

I'm on patch 1.67 and running 8.1 and the game works fine. :) Give the troubleshooting steps a try. Let us know how things go?

Thank you,
I updated my drivers and cleaned my PC with CCleaner, and I made sure I had no Mods installed but I still have the same issue.

I also thought that it would be bad CC but I deleted the Mods folder, uninstalled my game (twice) and deleted my Sims 3 folder but it still didn't work and reinstalled it, and it still has the same issue.

You did a factory reset? Have you tried repair game? Check your downloads file. I don't have any cc, but that's where my store hair and outfits are.

Repair Game - Right-click on the game and select Repair Game.

You didn't mention if you're playing on a laptop or desktop. So just in case you might be playing on a laptop. You may want to check to see if you have a dual graphics.

On the laptop - Right-click on the desktop you should see a menu item for Nvidia or AMD if you also see one for Intel you have dual graphics. Have a look at the link below to help fix that.

I know you have said that you have uninstalled all your custom content, but did these sims include custom content before? Also, some custom content could be attached to sims and you don't see it. Your game learns to rely on custom content and when you sometimes remove it your game will freak out. Are you using the same Sims? They may be in a corrupted file. I'm not familiar with Windows operating system, so I am sorry if you have already done any of these things.  :)

Mpart, I made sure that I reinstalled my game and deleted all my files and I created new sims and they still look deformed.

MrsFlynn, I play on laptop but I only have one graphics card I think which is Radeon. I'm not really good with computers and I decided to uninstall my game once more and make sure that CCleaner cleaned up every sims 3 file I had. I should install in the nest hours to come. I would let you know if any of this helped.

Are you sure your graphics drivers up to date? This really looks like a graphics issue to me but then I am a bit of a tech dunce lol
