Creating parking spaces with floor tiles
« on: November 10, 2010, 02:56:50 AM »
I am working on a community lot and I am at a loss on how to make a proper looking parking lot.  Would anyone know a combination of floor coverings to make it look like an actual parking space?  I would like it to have a textured look (like the tar &gravel floor tile) and have a white line in between each space.  I have played with so many floors and I just can not get it.  I have it looking nice but then I exit edit town, visit the lot and I can tell that the textures are different even though they are the same color or that there are edges to the tile.  Thanks in advance for any ideas.

EDIT: changed the subject line

In the Stone/Marble section there is a marble covering with a line through it maybe you could recolour that?

Something like this?  I just saw that you said white lines but it's an easy fix :)

YES!  Which tiles did you use my master??  This young grasshopper is eager to learn!  :)  Yellow lines are totally fine.

I used some stone/marble tiles as Samoht mentioned.  In the middle of each parking space is a tile called Simple Flooring, and the outside borders are a tile with a really long name but basically it has a line on the left or right side of it.  You can use the , and . keys to turn the tile the way you want then its just a matter of using the design tool to choose a texture you like.  Using [  ] to represent the blank tile, each of my parking spots is laid out like so: [| ][  ][ |] hopefully that makes sense :)

If you're not sure about the colors, you can always open edit town, find a community lot that haves parking spaces, then click with the palette tool on those floor tiles and save the pattern.
