Star Shaped Roof

This is a more detailed how-to for the star shaped gazeebo roof in the Roof Building Guide.

Start with a 4 x 4 square room and add a hipped roof.


Select the diagonal hipped roof and place it so one corner stick out on one side of the room.


Drag out one side so that now two corners stick out over the sides.


Pull the roof out on the other side so all four corners stick out .

I wonder if this would work on an octagonal shaped room.

Joria, I did it with an octagonal room, but found it really tricky. The center points of the roofs never wanted to line up perfectly. I think I ended up doing it on a square room and then going back afterwards and changing the walls to make it octagonal.

Thank you!  I wanted to build a "tower" but square wasn't my ideal and octagonal was, since we can't build round.

I agree. That is one of my pet peeves when I'm making one of my humongous castle towers. The roof just doesn't look right, at all. I miss the conical roofs! Please bring them back Maxis.
