Hi Michelleannep welcome to the forum. The fish becoming foul very quickly is something that has happened in the game since launch. It has been reported as a bug. I think that once they are foul you just can not place them in the fridge. Your best bet is once you have caught a fish is to head home asap and put them in the fridge before this happens. You can still cook with foul fish and as far as I can remember it doesn't actually effect the dishes quality. To be honest, I never put my fish in the fridge, I just leave them in my sims inventory. I also don't place caught fish in tanks/bowls as a foul fish will give sims a negative environment moodlet. Better to buy fish for your tanks/bowls as bought fish never become foul.

Thanks I'm glad it's just a bug. Maybe Ea Will get around to fixing it one of these days. And thanks for the welcome.

Yeah it is an annoying bug since there is no way for the player to keep fish fresh while you are fishing for supplies. I wish they should just do it like the vegetables ones rather than going with freshness. If they want to be as close as reality, then veggies, herbs and fruits also need adjustment since in real life, they could also rot just like fish if you let them hang around far too long.

@dodi90 can you remember if cooking with foul fish has a negative effect on the food? I keep meaning to try it out but then forget to once I am in game!

From my experience, the freshness of the fish has no effect on the quality of a cooked dish.

Yeah, I was pretty sure it didn't. Thanks ClayMask.

Yeah it did not have any effect whatsoever. It should have but I guess it was pretty hard not to make Excellent dish anyway if you are always inspired at cooking (which you really should do) and especially later on if you use the most expensive stove and fridge to cook.

I was wondering why I couldn't put fish in the refrigerator, though mine don't say foul...
