Getting Sunset Valley's old theater back into town
« on: December 03, 2015, 12:55:47 PM »
Advanced notification: This involves both mods and buildings, so I'm unsure where to place this.

I recently decided to play about and add Starlight Shore's theater into Sunset Valley, deleting the old one in the process with the intent to add show venues while maintaining part-time careers. What has happened now is incredibly ridiculous.

After saving then finding out the new theater doesn't function with Nraas Part-time Careers mod (i.e. the part-time job doesn't show up), I tried to add the old one back in. Only catch was the lot size is ridiculously complicated and I had to grab a mod to allow me to even ATTEMPT to place a 64x32 lot back, but what's happening is that where I'm trying to place it, it says "Cannot place on Lots", even though there's nothing there now (not even the lot) and it's where it was previously, and going back a touch says "Cannot place on roads", which makes a 63x32 lot the only possibility, except that won't fit it. What can I do to fix this? Luckily, this hasn't happened to the stadium (in which the same mod fails to comply with the Starlight Shore one).

Those red circles illustrate where I get the "Cannot Place on Lots" error when I attempt smaller lot sizes. Everywhere else within it is fine.

I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to do, but it sounds as though you have deleted the lot that the grocery store/theater and bookstore sits on, as well as those buildings? Now you're trying to put back the 63x32 lot and it's buildings?

I have never deleted that lot and buildings before. So this may or may not work. However, if you would like to give it a try, you could use a mod called Add Any Size Lot.

Add Any Lot Size

I think the building set can be found in the Community Lots tab, if I remember correctly.

If you've placed any lots in that area you want the theater on you'll need to delete those to make room for the 63x32 lot.

You may ?? get a message from the game that it cannot place lot due to unroutable terrain. Or something along those lines. I'm not really sure how to go around that.

It might be easier to test this in a new game first before trying to do this in your current game.

I hope this helps, :)

Yes, it's that lot which the grocery, theater and bookstore reside on; while I was vague, I did mention that Add Any Size Lot mod.

I get the two errors "Cannot Place on Lots" and "Cannot Place on Roads" at certain distances from Central Park: As close as possible (touching the adjacent road) is the former while going back (where the front line is adjacent to the back of the bistro) is the latter. When getting the building(s) into the library, I had to enter a different Sunset Valley save file and copy that to it since it wasn't there normally. The lot itself is 64x32 (same as the local school), which is why 63x32 won't work (1 length too short).

I actually don't get the unroutable terrain error, amazingly.

At present, I grabbed the theater from Twinbrook, the grocery from Outdoor Living Stuff and the bookstore from Hidden Springs as temporary replacements.

I just tested the idea out and it didn't work for me either. I saved the grocery store/theater and bookstore building set to the library, and moved the lot to a different spot instead of bulldozing.

Then I went to place the lot back in it's original spot and couldn't. It gave me the error Cannot Place on Lots.

So I'm assuming that we may not be able to replace that lot back to where it's suppose to go.

I have come across this before specially with the 64x64 lots up on Summer Hill Court. Those aren't able to be replaced either.

I did notice the building set isn't in the Community Lots tab too. Sorry about that.
