Trouble w/Animations
« on: November 22, 2015, 09:22:19 PM »
Hi again, I'm wondering if anybody else has this. When a patient first comes in they may or may not display symptoms, but after my doctor starts examining them, they just sit there and even when he takes a swab and then analyzes it, they just sit there and do nothing! I almost misdiagnosed a patient like this. I clicked on "compelling diagnosis" and got a few things and clicked on llama flu. I had just barely released the pause button and the patient got stars above his head. Fortunately, I was able to cancel out the first diagnosis and then say starry eyes. This lack of animations except for a few seconds makes it very difficult.

Since last i play the doc I did found the problems that the patient did not display any symptoms immediately . This actually make playing doctor a bit difficult since running tests takes too much time. I am lucky if i can get three patients doing those routine without staying late for work.

Yeah, it happened again. This time I made sure I was a little ways away. The moment I click on "diagnose" and my decision, the patient starts to display the animations. I guess I have to allow enough time to change the diagnosis.

I had so much trouble with this when I played the doctor. My patients displayed symptoms at the check in desk but by the time they were sitting on the bed there were absolutely no symptoms what so ever. It was incredibly frustrating. I managed to max the career by nabbing patients directly from the queue at the front desk and basically running random tests until I could actually diagnose. Then I would diagnose according to what symptoms I saw when they were standing in the queue.
I was so annoyed with it all I have vowed never to play that career again! I didn't find a way to fix the symptomless patients either.

As I said in the other thread, I'm learning to be a little ways away to give me a chance to change it. Inevitably, the moment I diagnose the patient, he/she will start displaying symptoms.

Just curious here, what does the pic of a beetle in the patient's thought bubble mean? I diagnosed her w/itchy plumbob b/c she was always itching, had a fever, and a spots rash. I temporarily removed my mods folder for now.

I don't think the thought bubbles really relate in a meaningful way to the game play. They're more like just random thoughts that the sims have. Sometimes they do sort of relate to game play and are often triggered by the choices you make as the player in the conversations the sims have. Often you can trigger a particular thought bubble by choosing a certain social interaction for screenshot purposes.

In that situation it would seem like the sim was bitten by some bug and that made the rash etc but there isn't anything actually like that in the game play.

Yah, it was wrong! Even *after* I had diagnosed, she suddenly got the cloud of smoke around her. : /  It was like it was a combination of itchy plumbob (itching a lot and spotty rash) and llama flu (again the spotty rash and at the last second the cloud), and a possibility of burnin belly b/c when she first came in, she was rubbing her abdomen. *sigh*  You're right. IRL a bite would be a possibility, but not in the game.

I really feel for you, I just had so many glitches and game bugs in the doctor career. :(

Well, this will be the last time I do this! From now one it's going to be scientist or something. I've not tried the PI one yet.

The scientist is my fav hands down but I enjoy playing a detective sim too. I tend to stop progressing before they get to chief though as I don't like the chiefs uniform!  ::)
