Problem Giving Birth
« on: October 31, 2015, 02:32:38 AM »
Hi, my sim can't seem to have her baby. She's been in labor since the night before and now it is 3pm and she still  has not had the baby. I've tried resetting her twice and using the needs cheat once. Should I just quit w/o saving and then reload or what?

Edit: She finally gave birth, but was in labor for something like 24 hrs! The baby is 100% alien, is this why?

I've had really long labored before but you can always send her to the hospital or click on the bassinet and click "have baby", this has always ended labor in my experience

Pregnant sims don't automatically have babies like in Sims 3.  You need to click on the sim and select Have Baby at Hospital or have a bassinet on the lot and click on it to Have Baby.

I would also highly recommend reading the relevant Carl's guides for the tasks you're having issues with as he covers just about everything you can think of on how different elements in the game work.

I didn't know that we had to click on them. My sims before now have always had the baby automatically once labor started. This was a first for me.

Ok, I read the entire pregnancy and birth part of the guide and I still say that what I experienced was a glitch. The guide *does* say that I *can* click on her to send her to the hospital, but that otherwise she will give birth in about 3 hrs, NOT 24 hrs! I'm not sure what caused the glitch, but glad it eventually worked and hope that it doesn't happen again.

I don't think I've ever just left my sim before to give birth on her own.  Interesting.

I have and eventually (not a very long time either) she auto started to go to the hospital and I had to choose who was going with her or to send her on her own. Not sure what happens if you don't have Get To Work. Another time the sim gave birth right where she was standing and another cot appeared in front of her even though there was one placed in another room.

I guess I feel sorry for my pregnant sims and have them head straight off to have the baby. :D

lol I normally do but this was in my dynasty and I had other sims that I needed to complete things so I delayed the birth as long as possible.  ::)

Not really delay, just not rush off to the hospital as soon as labour starts. You can usually get just under a sims hour to finish other activities with other family members before the game takes over.
