Hey guys,

I want to start a new game on TS4 so I can film a Let's Play for YouTube. I have aging set to on, if I leave my personal game file alone and record gameplay on the second one do the Sims contained in the first file continue to age up? I do want to film LPs, but not if it means having zero control over the lifespans, relationships, etc. of my personal Sims. This seems like a question I should already know the answer to but I am at a loss.

The sims in a file that you are not playing won't be affected by what you do in a different file. In other words, your sims in the first file won't age up if you're playing the second.

Awesome. Thank you so much. Could I also have one file's lifespan set to normal and the other set to long?

You would have to manually set it each time you switched files.  Your preferences do carry across all the files.
