No last name change after marriage?

Hello all, I just had two sims get married by way of the wedding arch, and the female Sim last name didn't change to his last name. He proposed to her and I used him to "click" on the wedding arch. Just wondering why the last name didn't change. Is this a common issue or does this not happen in Sims4?

This just happened to me too, I don't know how common it is though. I just got two Sims married recently with the elope option, I didn't use a wedding arch, the groom proposed and when they were married neither of their last names changed. I've been wondering about it too.

Actually did a search and I didn't realize that I asked this back in January in this forum. I was told back then it's a mechanic of the game and the last names won't change like in TS2. There is a cheat to change it, but I haven't tried it yet.

You don't need to cheat. The next time you send any sim in your household into CAS, you can click on the name of the wife and change the last name -- first name, too, if you like.

Doesn't that require the "Cas.fulleditmode" cheat?

No, it doesn't require the cheat any more.  It used to, I forgot to enter the cheat a couple of nights ago, and it let me change the last name anyway.  I think it was changed in the last patch.

Thanks for that reply Marian T. I tried changing her last name and CAS and it worked just fine.

Yes, they changed it so you don't have to use the cheat anymore for the name change.  That was changed a couple patches ago.
