Ask to visit a friend - on thier lot?

New to the forum but I’ve been reading this site for years.

Question: In Sims 4, is it possible to have my Sim(s) ask a friend on the phone/text/computer if my sim(s) can go to visit their friend - on the friend’s lot?

Background: Often times, friends of my Sims will call and ask if they can come over to hang out. Usually I agree and they just show up – almost instantly. My Sims just got back from a 5-day trip to Granite Falls, where they spent the entire time hanging out with The Hermit, who they had already established as a Good Friend on their previous trip, and they never stayed at the campgrounds where they were paying rent.

When they came home from the trip The Hermit called and asked if he could come over to their house to hang out for a bit. I agreed and voila, he showed up and spent the afternoon visiting, just like a local friend would. I was really surprised by this.

...So I got thinking, if he can do that, how would my Sims go about doing the same thing? Could they go visit the Deep Forest / Hermit’s House by just asking him if they could visit, bypassing the whole vacation rental setup? It doesn’t look like that’s an option on the phone. It appears that they can invite someone to come visit their lot, but not request to go visit their friend’s lot… or am I overlooking something?

Hi RandyH, welcome to the forum.
Unfortunately you can only have a friend come to your lot to visit in that way. You can just go crash at anyone's house/lot for as long as you want usually without any negative hits to your friendship level. Although sleeping in a bed and cooking in their kitchen can cause a double negative hit and shocked reaction from the sim who owns the house. But as for asking to stay at the Hermits house, no. Although that be a good work around having to pay the rental fee.

Thanks. What seems new in Sims 4 is that sometimes sims call asking to come over - but asking a friend to visit you is not new. And yeah, I was surprised at what a gracious host The Hermit was with these uninvited guests. They slept in their tent but they did make themselves at home otherwise.
