New towns hmmmmm!!!
« on: November 06, 2010, 01:39:10 AM »
Hi folks, I'm new to the forum but I have been checking the site for a while, just like to say great job there.... So my question is, if you live in Twinbrook, can you add all the tower blocks, bars, subways etc and still have the same experience as if you were living in Bridgeport? The town looks awesome, but I don't really want to move my family there, otherwise I will loose all the progress, including my family tree....I know you can save and reload your exsiting family each time, but it's not the same. :( thanks in advance....

Welcome to our Forum, Macleod!

Yes, you can add the Bridgeport buildings to Twinbrook, just as you can add them to Sunset Valley and Riverview.  You may have to buldoze some lots and use the World Editor in Edit Town, but I was able to add 4 or 5 night clubs to Sunset Valley that way.  You won't be able to add the subway, though.  Not that I've seen, anyway.

Edit:  I think I'm wrong about the subways.  I saw that one of our Moderators was able to add subways to Riverview.  I'm sure she'll be along to answer your question soon.  :)

Yes, I was able to add subways and it is great.  Riverview is really changing as I have put in some other nice buildings that I have downloaded from the exchange over the last few months.  It is amazing what you can do to your town.  The lot I used for the subway is a 10 x 10 lot and it fits perfectly.  I added a couple of trees and a couple of outdoor chairs and some lights.  You can as many skyscrapers or buildings to any town you want.  Like Pam said, you might have to bulldoze a couple of lots and also I had remove some fencing to get some buildings to fit.  I like Bridgeport, but like some other members said, not the best place for large families, except in the neighborhood that has the houses.  All in all, with a good imagination, you can do anything you want.

Where are my manners, welcome to the forum and have fun and feel free to ask any questions. :)

Salty how did you add the subway system?  Just copy the subway parts and put on a lot?  Or is it available in buy mode?

It is available in the build mode, community items.  Put down a 10 x 10 grid from world editor and viola, just put down the subway station.  Like I said, I put one across the street from my sim and another one where she works and then you can put more where your community buildings are, like the theatre, stores and anyplace else.  I fix up the stations by putting park benches and trees and lights and you can always find someone sitting on the benches reading.  Pretty cool.  Let me know if you find it and maybe I can give screenshot of it.  Good luck. :)

I can't find subways in the build mode community lots. There are no small lots that came with LN that I can see, only high rises.

You can add a subway to any community lot that has enough open space.  Just go to the community objects in build mode, go to the second (middle) tab, and scroll down until you get to the subway.

Build mode, community items, miscellaneous.  Under the basement tool is a community item icon.  Second or third scroll down.

So, if you own the property, just go to the real estate options and then build/buy?

Oh! I was thinking it was a building, a full on lot, not an item. Thanks :)
