Party Progress Bug?

I'm having some trouble with parties.  My sim throws one, meets all criteria, then the last critera re-sets and no progress is made.  I've tried this with both the normal house party and the costume party.  This is what it looks like:

I've been having difficulty with parties too. The last two birthday parties despite having baked 3 to 4 cakes, never gets that requirement ticked off so I only get a silver medal. It's pretty annoying.

These parties also don't register for her aspiration, which is a huge problem.  She has thrown five parties and it says 2/5 on her panel.  They don't need to rank a medal to count for the aspiration so no idea what's up.

Where do you find the party stats? I've just been keeping track on a spreadsheet I made!? Oh, wait is she a party animal or something?

I wonder if you temporarily change the aspiration then without doing anything towards the new aspiration, travel; then change back to the original one if it would reset? It seems a bit strange but I've found that traveling seems to reset a lot of things.

I've tried a black and white party 3 times running now. It gets to one of the last requirements, which is to have 3 sims listen to the piano at the same time. My entertainer, whether paid or a friend, won't play the piano. So I had their son play because he has creativity level 10. No matter what I do, around this point, the game crashes to desktop.

Uhoh, sounds like we must be experiencing a bug with parties. I guess I'll go and throw a party or two, write down exactly what's happening and go report it as a bug.

Honestly, party mechanics seem inherently flawed anyway.  The fact that, for example with the costume party, you will roll specific and randomized food and drinks (sometimes a hamburger cake, sometimes a taco salad) but the caterer doesn't automatically make that dish kind of defeats the purpose of hiring one.

I know, I never bother hiring a caterer now and I always make a stack of drinks before I make the party phone call too, even though I do usually hire a mixologist.

I have a party bug problem. When I throw a party the box at the left hand side of the screen no longer appears. Just the timer. So you can't see what you need to achieve for the medals. Very annoying. Tried repairing the game, no luck.

Hi @gabrielleMC , welcome to the forum. Make sure you have the 'Host A Prestige Social Event' box ticked. You find this in the menu that comes up after your sim uses the phone to plan a social event. When that box is unchecked parties are just in free-form where they have no goals. Hopefully this solves your issue.

There is one that comes up when you move into the neighborhood and it show's nothing either just the timer

If repairing your game doesn't work, also try deleting the cache files.  This is especially important after updates:
