Can't build rooms without foundation?

Okay hello everyone! I'm new to this forum so I'm not exactly sure how it works.

I suck at building but I'm trying to build this house. I'm having an issue with creating rooms. Each time I use the Wall Tool it gives me a foundation along with it and I don't want the foundation, just the wall. I can't seem to get rid of it? I'm sure it's something obvious that I'm missing but it's really frustrating. Can someone help? Thank you!

Hello, champagnemami, and welcome to the forum! 

When you're in build mode, click on the foundation of the house on the user interface. A slider should appear. If you drag the slider all the way down to the bottom, there should no longer be any foundation.
