Discovering Mermaid Secret Island

Hi, When I first got IP, I removed the mermaid life state from all of the mermaids. Since then, I took one of the townies and made her a mermaid and my sim is in love w/her, but she never gives him the secret to the island. Does it work to turn a townie into a mermaid? This is the last island that I have to discover.

Swim in the water and use "ask about fish parts" while there.

I just tried your suggestion and the only options he has is "splash" and the nraas mods. I did change her into a mermaid w/nraas so I might try the kelp and see if that converts her to an official mermaid.

Well, I got tired of trying to unlock it the normal way so I just went ahead w/the cheat for this game anyway.

To encourage a mermaid to tell you about the secret island both of you need to visit a diving spot and dive under.  You also need high friendship status with the mermaid (and possibly also high diving skill.)  Do nothing whilst underwater and the mermaid will eventually interact with you and take you to the islad.

I have found that this does not work while using Nraas mods. Try temporarily uninstalling them (moving the package files somewhere else) and trying to hang out with your merbuddy again.
