Mixology Questions - Esp. Mixology Challenges

I have been playing TS2 since it came out, and TS3 since it came out as well.. and only within the last month did I realize there was a skill journal, as well as challenges.

/cue embarrassed laughter


So one of my Sims is starting to max out quite a few skills, and I decided -now that he's obtained his LTW- that he can muck about with Mixology.. and the challenges that come with it. Either I'm stupid, or they're kind of difficult. I've a few questions:


1) Mixology challenges - Master of Mood for example - I can have him at him home bar making mood drink after mood drink, until there's no room left to place them but it doesn't show [in the skill journal] how many he's made.

When I did the athletic challenges, they showed my progress. Am I missing something?

I did read the Mixology guide but it was more of an intro on the skill, not so much a guide. Has anyone tried the Mixology challenges, and can you give me any tips?


2) What fruits/things should I keep stocked at all times, and do I really need to be buying ingredients?


This is all probably total easy and my flu-ridden brain is just too fogged up to wrap around the logic XD

Mixology doesn't actually need any fruit to function, an empty bar will still produce drinks. If you're not doing a Dynasty life fruit is always a Sim pleasing addition though. Just don't add plasma fruit, as that will make non vampires ill after drinking.

As far as I know, there is no progress number for mood drinks, but I did manage to finish that challenge myself, and it should complete when you've made enough. It takes fifty platters of mood drinks though, so it's going to take a bit of time.

The challenges aren't easy, but here's a few tips that made it do-able for me 1) Get the fast learner LTH reward, so that they pick up new drinks a little faster. 2) Drinks served from your home bar to other Sims you control still count as "Sims served" as long as you're "tending the bar" at the time. 3) Don't be afraid to "clean up" some of your extra drinks while leveling your skill, it really frees up extra space.

So far he's just been making mood drinks solo at home, and letting them pile up on every available surface, hahaha. I wasn't sure if that counted or if I had to have him tend bar or make drinks for another sim.

I've done 25 platters so far (and just called a maid to clean up, no way am I clicking all of them!) - so not far to go! Ty!

Welcome to our Forum, Atticus.

I've played the Mixology skill and had a Sim in my Immortal Dynasty get to level 10 and complete all the challenges.  I don't have all the answers off the top of my head, but here's a thread where it was discussed at length.  You might find some help there.

As for all the trays of drinks piling up, just click and drag them to the sell box in your Sim's personal inventory.  If you do it as you go, it's not a big deal to keep it up.
